DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING

OBEYING THE MASTERS ORDERS TO MAKE DISCIPLES

One of the Key directional commands of Christ to his disciples before he went back to the Father was “Go and make disciples of all nations”.

This was a continuation of his own ministry here on earth with the twelve disciples and then multiplying to the seventy two that were sent out and of course others that joined with Him. That of course is the Key “With Him” The key was on the job personal practical training. In the early church this was continued house to house in equipping ministry and through His followers Jesus added to the Church daily. When great persecution came upon the church thousands were scattered and the multiplication of evangelistic discipleship continued. With thousands coming to faith through His followers. Paul in his writings to the church at Ephesus continued this thrust as he exhorted the leaders gifted by Gods Holy Spirit to equip the saints for ministry.

And of course Paul himself continued this ministry of continually reproducing himself when he said to the Corinthian Church follow me as I follow Christ. Then later when talking to Timothy one of his disciples he urged Timothy to pass on his training to faithful men who would in turn continue the process.

Sadly the Church was slowly institutionalized and was structured similarly to secular government. Where a few do the talking and directing and for most Christians are gathered to sit and listen to a few professionals. Rather than multiplying ourselves we are adding a few more people to listen to us. There is a great need to re organize the modern Church in a way that lets us all minister equally in the gifts we have all been given. We often say we believe this but it is seldom practiced. That is we are all anointed ordained by God and gifted by the Holy Spirit for ministry. There is no such a thing as ordained clergy and what is wrongly called lay people. Rather we are all ministers Disciples of Christ and all have the call to minister and equip others to do the same.

Our training in a number of countries is seeking to address this very vital issue. It is bringing about some very exciting changers that are bringing life back into many local Churches.

At present we are equipping on a large national scale with equipping schools in countries in southern Africa at the request of denominational leaders. This training is purposely aimed at making disciples strongly focused on the great commission to take the Good News of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.  Our Director of Let The World Hear His Voice Rev Lester Kelly has written and produced training materials to help in this great endeavor.
